Rides along the South Downs Way

  • This ride was from Eastbourne to Winchester.

  • Started from the Premier Inn in Eastbourne at 4am.

  • The idea of starting from Eastbourne was to get the hardest part of the ride completed first, leavng the easier (West) part of the ride for the end of the day.

  • It was very misty, wet and gloomy for the 1st 30 miles, but the sun burnt through and by the end of the day it was glorious sunshine, with a 'fresh' headwind.

  • We arrived in Winchester at 9.15pm.

  • This ride was from Winchester to Eastbourne.

  • James and I started from the Premier Inn in Winchester at 4am.

  • Stopping for a well-earned lunch stop provided by John at Kithurst Hill, who joined us until Devil's Dyke.

  • The SDW was busy with people out walking enjoying the sun, as well as many bikers.

  • We arrived in Eastbourne at 8.15pm.

  • The weather was good and sunny with a welcomed gentle tail wind.

  • The weather was good and sunny.

  • Simon and I rode to the Southease youth hostel for lunch, then rode back home

  • This ride started from the Premier Inn Winchester at 4am.

  • The weather was the hottest day of the year.

  • The ride finished at the Eastbourne end of the SDW next to the Kiosk.

  • I started this ride from the Premier Inn Winchester at 4am. starting the ride in the dark, seeing the sunrise over the hills was great.

  • The weather was sunny and very warm, with a light head wind.

  • The ride finished at the Eastbourne end of the SDW next to the Kiosk. The feeling of finally completing the SDW in one day was amazing.

  • We started this ride at the King Alfred Statue in Winchester at 8am.

  • The weather was sunny and very warm, with the wind behind us all the way.

  • I intended to ride all the whole trail, but there wasn't time to make it to Eastbourne for the last train home. The ride ended at Falmer.

  • This ride started at the Cheesefoot Head car park, near Winchester at 5am.

  • The weather was sunny and warm to begin with, but towards the end the cross/head wind was hard going.

  • The ride ended at at Saddlescombe Farm, just after Devil's Dyke.

  • This ride started at the Eastbourne end of the SDW. I did the ride with my good friend James.

  • The weather was cool and overcast to start with, the when the clouds broke it warmed up.

  • The ride ended at Kithurst Hill car park, West Sussex.

  • I started this ride from Cheesefoot, which is about 4 miles from the actual start of the SDW in Winchester.

  • The weather was warm and overcast.

  • The ride ended where the SDW meets the A29 near Bury Hill, West Sussex.

  • The ride ended at the train station in Eastbourne.
