7. Botolphs to Ditchling Beacon.

Cross the road carefully, which may take time as it is busy road. The SDW is around 50 metres to the left. The trial continues up a technical steep climb, flattening out to smoother grass.

At the top of Truleigh Hill there is a Youth Hostel with a handy water tap to the left of their front door. A nice downhill section is welcome before Devil’s Dyke.

Crossing the A23 bridge, there is a Petrol station that is handy for filing up on water and food for the next slog…. Up Ditchling Beacon!

Water Tap: Truleigh Hill Youth Hostel (and garage at A23 crossing)

Water Tap: Saddlescombe, tap is attached to old building
